7 Enzymes - Definition Biological catalysts Primarily proteins Highly specific May require cofactors Sensitive to environment (temperature, pH, etc.) Can function in vitro 8 Other Definitions Catalyst - A substance that increases the rate of a reaction without modifying the overall standard Gibbs-energy change in the reaction.
