H ONORS P ROGRAM BYU Last Revised: June 4, 2007 102A MSRB Provo, Utah 84602 · (801) 422-5497 · [email protected] · www.byu.edu/honors G REAT W ORKS R ESPONSE G UIDELINES Response Requirements • Write two responses from each of the six Great Works categories: literature, art, film, music, science & technology, and theater • Responses must be written in English on a work from one of the items recorded in your Great Works Experience Log • Responses should be a minimum of two pages, double-spaced • Papers written for other classes can be submitted as Great Works Responses but must conform to the response requirements outlined below • Responses must include o succinct but savvy historical contextualization o informed critical analysis (your own) o thoughtful personal reflection • Use a consistent format (APA, MLA, Chicago Manual, etc.) for any texts cited in the response • It is appropriate to indicate the three sections with bolded headings
