The American publics definition of terrorism has been defined in a very narrow and biased way. The government has succeeded in blinding the people of what the definition of terrorism actually is, putting forth the idea that terrorism can only be accomplished by non- Western groups or anti-Western groups. They see acts of violence by pro-Western groups and states as a dangerous label known as counter-terrorism. Americans have been convinced that only violent groups who fight against the West are considered terrorists and violent groups who are aligned with the West are not. The idea of terrorism against the Western public has been pushed constantly into the minds of Americans as the only type of terrorism that exist and this has mainly been done to achieve political gains.
