Section Assignment 7 The readings for Tuesday and Thursday of next week deal with patenting genetically engineered life forms: in Chakrabarty , a genetically engineered micro-organism; in Harvard College v. Canada , a genetically-engineered mouse useful for cancer research. Andrew Linzey’s article, “Genetic Engineering as Animal Slavery” contains a scathing moral critique of the genetic engineering of animals, as well as patents on those animals.
