Aristotle puts forth some very convincing arguments against the idea that the virtue of the best human being is also the virtue of a loyal citizen. First I plan to go through what Aristotle defines as a citizen, then what a loyal citizen is, and finally what an excellent human being is. Then I plan to go thru three of the arguments presented by Aristotle the first being the external argument, the second being the internal argument, the third and final argument is that the citizens of any regime will fulfill different functions yet all of these functions work towards preserving the city or regime. After these arguments have been stated I will begin my views and interpretations of these ideas. The most important definition Aristotle gives for a citizen is “the citizen in the unqualified sense is defined by no other thing so much as sharing in decision and office. Plainly stated that anyone who is involved or entitled to involvement in deliberation or decision can be considered a citizen of that city. Aristotle goes on to say that any person from parents who are citizens of that city shall be considered a citizen in an unfulfilled sense. The definition of a loyal citizen is the preservation of the city with the view of all tasks working towards the bettering of the city. This definition can also be used as an argument because it is putting forth the idea that is no one way to define what a loyal citizen is. While on the other hand the definition of an excellent human being is too able to rule and be ruled or be of the ruling sort which is a contradictory statement put forth by Aristotle. Looking trough the writings of Aristotle he never really comes forth and says truly what an excellent human being is he kind of hints at it and works his way around it because in actuality the definition of an excellent human being will be different in every single culture and mind of a person on the earth.
