Playing in field full of flowers (imagery of flowers being plucked) Hades abducts her, done by Zeus’ will p.175- Demeter withdraws fertility from the earth- whole race of mortal man would have perished (not a good thing- nobody to sacrifice) Iris (female messenger) sent by Zeus Persephone returned, but in return not supposed to eat Hades gives her pomegranate seed (maybe abortive powers?)
