Actual Differences between Boys and Girls o Verbal Ability – females o Visual/Spatial ability – males o Math – females are better at computation o Males are better at higher math theory o Aggression – males are more overtly aggressive o Females are more covertly aggressive. Relational aggression – spreading rumors, exclusion, etc. o More Recent and More controversial differences o Activity levels – males move around more than females (even as fetuses) o Fear, timidity, and risk-taking In new situations and females are more likely to show fear, timidity and less likely to take risk-taking. o Emotional expressivity/ sensitivity Females more emotionally expressive o Compliance Females more likely to be compliant Males more likely to make demands, females more likely to take a diplomatic way. o Differences are more or less prevalent depending on where you live. o Scientists may bias their research.
