David Alan Devor November 7, 2006 Dr. Chojna – Hon 101 Analects of Confucius I find Confucius to be a very wise man, because of his passive and tranquil beliefs and teachings. Confucius tried to keep peace in everything he did. Confucius’s teachings still remain as important today as they did years ago. One of Confucius’s quotes is, “At fifteen, I aspired to learning. At thirty I established my stand. At forty, I had no delusions. At fifty, I knew my destiny. At sixty, I knew truth in all I heard. At seventy, I could follow the wishes of my heart without doing wrong.” (Baird 298) The reason I like this quote is because is just shows how successful one can make there life if they decide to be dedicated. Right now our job is to be aspired to learning. Then at thirty we should establish our stand. If we do these things earlier, the more successful we will be. I also like the quote, “The gentleman understands righteousness, and the petty man understands profit.”(Baird 304) I like this quote because it just shows what the true
