Christopher Evans  Psych 1  Assignment: intelligence Testing 4/08/07 Two types of intelligence tests I’ve taken are the SAT’s and an IQ test. The SAT’s  included both math and reading sections. Within the math part there were problems that didn’t  necessarily require a whole lot of extensive knowledge of higher level math, yet they did revolve  around going through various steps to find a solution. With the reading it dealt with mostly  reading into the context of the information providing and giving an in-depth analysis of the  meaning on the text. The IQ test was more centered around different groups and deciding what  didn’t belong, logic based questions and questions that revolved around visual representations  of problems. Both of these tests were based on a strict time limited structure which creates a

Unformatted text preview: somewhat stressful situation in that the person taking the test must work through the problems as fast as possible. Both of these tests are measuring a persons basic problem solving and analysis skills. While the traditional IQ test is more focused on the ability to problem solve using logic and process of elimination, the SAT is more focused on retrieving previous information and applying it in an effective manner with the relevant problems. Given the constraints of a singular test, both of these typically do a pretty good job in finding a preliminary level of education and intelligence in the people who take part. Although the time constraints may provide an extra source of stress that could very well affect a person’s performance. I hated taking both of them…sooo stressful!...
