3 ABSTRACT 2 The film thickness and friction in a hydrodynamic bearing can be modeled using Sommerfeld Number and design charts created from 3D fluid flow models. Based on the lubricant viscosity, operating conditions (speed and load) and bearing geometry, the bearing parameters can be calculated.
