Ch 09 (1) Changzheng Huang 3 1. External flow examples External flow refers to the flow around an object that is completely surrounded by the fluid. External flow examples include flows around, Airplanes, missiles, automobiles, birds, and Ships, submarines, fishes, etc. External flows involving air are often termed aerodynamics. This is an important field where both the air compressibility and viscosity can play important roles in the flow. Compressible flow will be dealt with in Ch 11.
