MATERIALS : Required Hoffman, Smith, Willis, 2009 ed., West’s Federal Taxation: Individual Income Taxes Recommended On line student resources http://wft.swlearning.com OBJECTIVES : This course is designed to introduce students to the philosophical, economic and legal aspects of the United States federal system of income taxation. It is also designed to acquaint students with the concepts and applications of the federal tax law, as it applies to individuals, and to give students experience in basic tax research, tax planning and individual income tax return preparation. This is a basic level introductory course to provide a basic understanding of the underlying theory and operation of the income tax law in practice.
