Both were 13 (They had four children) 1891 went to England to study law and befriended members of the famous vegetarian society there. 1893 went to South Africa where he was hired to do some legal work (he was not very successful as a young lawyer in India). He was going to stay there for more than two decades 1894 he organized the Natal Indian Congress (NIC-- to fight against discrimination against Indian traders in Natal) 1906 he organized the non-violent movement 1908 sentenced for two months in jail 1909 he produced one of his most famous pieces— India Home Rule 1914 returned to India with his family 1918/1919, in 1918 led mill workers at Ahmedabad, and later led non-violence campaign in Kheda; emerged as the leader of the movement for national independence 1919 the British government attempted to introduce the Rowlatt Bills which made
