Mettler Scott Mettler March 16, 2007 Informal #4 Option #1 Short Story Class Activity I really enjoyed the random object activity earlier this term when we selected an object and constructed a thesis about it. This activity expands upon that idea and is combined with an something that many short film making contests use as a competition. This activity is designed to help students realize that there are many ways to put a story together using common objects as a topic. This activity should be fairly quick and could be used as an informal writing piece. The activity is started by everyone pulling out a sheet of paper and a pencil. At the front of the room, the teacher will hold up three objects that are completely unrelated to each other,

The class is instructed to write a narrative or imaginative piece including those objects in their story or using the objects as characters. The writing should take 15 to 20 minutes. At the conclusion of the writing session, the students are asked to read what they have written. Finally, the class can discuss why an activity like this one is used and what the activity is trying to exercise. I believe that this activity exercises the creativity of the student. Even if people dont have the most creative story, hearing some of the other stories could help the though process. Also, this activity would help warm up the class for the rest of the section. 1...
