KINE 451 – Nutrition for Fitness and Sport Fall  2007 –Midterm Review The midterm exam will cover chapters 1, 3, 4, 5. Exam questions will be developed from text material, lecture content, and class activities. This review is intended to be a supplement to your reading and studying of the text and lecture notes. By no means does it cover every question that I may ask you on the exam, but will present general topics that you will need to review in detail. * Omit pgs. 17-27 (these topics will be covered on final exam) What is good nutrition? For health, fitness, and sport. The importance of food nutrients. Historical perspectives of “sports nutrition”. Keys to healthful eating. Describe difficulties in eating high quality diets. Be able to define and discuss the following terms: physical fitness, health-related fitness, sports-related fitness, nutrition, nutrient. Importance of regular physical activity. What are the two primary determinants of health status?
