Mike Gemmati Modern World 102 Dr. Malik Final Exam December 7 th 2007 Question 1 In an ever changing society, one based on technology, religion, the economy, and many other factors, it is now more then ever important for people to have an open mind. A person can not live with ignorance if he or she wants to accomplish or succeed at anything now. A person must not only know about themselves and there culture and background but also those surrounding them. I came into this modern history course with the feeling of, “I just want to pass get my credit and get out of here”. After about the first five minutes or hearing Dr. Malik speak my mind quickly changed upon hearing just how much he had gone through and what being knowledgeable can do for you. I found out thru the course material and the readings much more then I ever learned in my other high school history classes. This course has greatly changed my opinion about the different cultures and religions around the world. I know have a better understanding of why and how different cultures came in to existence and why the world is in the shape that it is in now. For example I now have a deeper understanding then what I had before on the Middle East and why it is so underdeveloped after being in existence for so long. I believe that I am also now a better informed citizen and would be able to better
