Mike Gemmati Prof. VanGraafeiland 10/30/08 BUS 375 On October 29 th I went to the New York State Supreme Court seventh judicial district located in the Hall of Justice in downtown Rochester. I arrived at the court house around 2:15 just as the trial was set to begin after the lunch recess. The criminal trial that I attended involved the state of New York vs. the defendant, Jimmy Gibson and the case was presided by Justice Affronti. From what I was able to pick up this was an attempted murder case. Being as though this was my first time in a courtroom, I was exposed to things like different forms of evidence, the swearing in on the bible, and different witnesses being called to the stand. While watching the trial play out I saw real life examples of things that I have been taught in class. For example I knew this was a criminal case based on the set up which included the government ( the state of New York) going against a defendant ( Jimmy Gibson) a panel of jurors, and the attorney representing the government trying to convince the jury beyond a
