Section 003 Chapter 9 Study Guide: Organizational Conflict KEY TERMS - Conflict: Process compromised of perceptions, emotions, behaviors, and outcomes; arises due to a discrepancy between members in an organization over certain subjects, such as ways in obtaining goals. Conflict may arise due to differences in values or power. - Conflict episodes: Interactions of members, which takes places in five conflict stages. Consists of the individual’s and group’s perceptions, emotions, behaviors, and outcomes during conflict. Contributes to ones’ understanding of conflict within an organization. - Negotiation: Process used to address/solve a conflict in an organization where members are mutually dependent with a shared goal. Accomplished through interpersonal communicative tactics and effective cooperation. - Whistle blowing: The act of informing a higher authority of unethical behavior; Authority has the power to address and tackle the reported behavior.
