Temp regulation lab 4/7/08 1. The exercise period performed on the Vmax machine projected a mean RER of . 746. Using the chart, this value correlated with 84.4% fat, 15.6% CHO and every liter of O2 burned 4.739 kcals. (2). The total energy required for the entire exercise bout was 303.959 kcals and 38.864 grams of substrate. During the exercise bout, the Vmax subject lost.1 kg, the other 2 subjects lost .21 kg and .4 kg. The relationship clearly demonstrated that during 30min of exercise, the mass (grams) of substrate burned is WAY less than the amount of water you have remaining in your body, in other words, the majority of weight loss during exercise is due to water loss. 2. a.
