MGMT 4010 Due: Nov. 17, 2008 Policy Paper Objective: The purpose of this policy is to define severe weather and to provide employees with the necessary steps to take in the event of weather that effect employees getting to or from work or while they are working. Scope: This policy applies to all employees working for WaterMark in the California office. Policy Statement: At WaterMark, nothing is more important than our employees. Each employee is part of the WaterMark family and ensuring that each family member is protected and safe during weather emergencies is of the utmost important. Severe weather can be defined as any type of weather that causes destruction. Severe weather typically includes thunderstorms, tornadoes, snowstorms, blizzards, hailstorms, hurricanes, high wind, tsunamis, cyclones, or any type of natural weather pattern. In the occurrence that severe weather occurs, WaterMark will take the following steps. In the event that weather occurs before the work day begins: Since decisions are better made as a team, conversations between all employees , including the CEO and upper management shall take place to decide whether the work day should be cancelled due to weather conditions. If the work day is cancelled, employees can show their commitment to WaterMark by forming groups and brainstorming ways to get to work. The group that makes it to work will be rewarded for their synergy and commitment . If the work day is cancelled and no action can be taken to reach the office, employees are asked to spend the day in a video chat with each other to encourage people interaction between employees . In the event that weather occurs after employees have arrived at the office: If daily work can be continued under the current weather conditions, employees are asked to continue with work until the end of the day. If daily work cannot be continued, an all employee meeting is held
