ABSTRACT This syllabus explains in detail the context, goals, and policies of WRTG 3040-011, Fall  2008. The purpose is to provide a holding place for key information, including how to  contact the instructor; the course description; a materials list; and a discussion of  course activities, assignments, grading, and options for make-up work. In addition,  this syllabus addresses the criteria for an upper-division core writing course at the  University of Colorado at Boulder, including objectives from the Program for Writing  and Rhetoric, the University of Colorado, and the Colorado Commission on Higher  Education. Detailed policies on collegiate citizenship and resources for assistance are  also included. Finally, a weekly schedule highlights topics and due dates. ii
