Phone Interview with CU Campus Police Officer Brad Weisley Took Place on Thursday, December 4, 2008 1. Question: What has CU done in response to these assaults? Response: We always do a lot on a day-to-day basis. For a short period of time this isn’t more than usual, but for the whole year they are not higher. We have programs in place to respond to these attacks: 1. We, first, communicate that something is going on. The University has communicated with faculty, staff, and students through flyers, emails, and on CU Connect, so people are aware. Can’t be aware if you don’t know something is going on. 2. Blue light systems have always been here. 3. Cell phones also help. 4. Expanded NightRide, more staff available. 5. Reinforce the safety message that goes out during orientation. Have buddy system, and don’t walk alone. 6. Counselor systems in place to talk about issues. 7. Police department has directed our patrols. Officers have spent more time around the areas of the assaults, so they can be more visible around the areas
