11/05/08 o Final though regarding senses: What goes through a batters brain while standing at plate If he decides to swing: impulses have to go to arms, legs, back, (especially back leg to remain stiff) THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM - Is a fluid network that distributes oxygen, nutrients, wastes, heat, hormones, enzymes, and immune cells and molecules to literally all parts of the body - Nervous system was an impulse distribution network; circulatory system is a fluid distribution network (fluid is blood) - Two major divisions: o Cardiovascular system In 10-15%, the blood and plasma that went out into the interstitial tissue does not come right back into the capillaries; because of a pressure different between the arterial end of the capillary and venous end. Point is: you have 10-15% of blood plasma out in the tissues, you have to get it back (lymphatic system) Includes: Heart o Does not pump; it pushes blood o Distributes blood to all parts of the body o Blood travels from the heart to tissues by way of arteries; when the
