The Challenge of Democracy, student achievement series _______________________________________________ _________________ PURPOSE The purpose of Political Science 130 is to give the student an introduction to the structure and workings of American National Government, from both an institutional and political viewpoint. This course is required of all political science majors and minors, Legal Studies and Legal Assistance majors, Social Studies Education majors, and satisfies a University Core Curriculum requirement in the Social and Behavioral Studies distribution for all students. STRUCTURE OF COURSE This course will combine lecture with class discussion in an attempt to present a variety of views concerning government and politics. Class discussion is welcomed and encouraged. EVALUATION There will be four in-class exams in this course, including the final exam. Each exam will consist of multiple choice questions. The final exam will be comprehensive.
