Taylor Franklin Homework #2 CE461G 2/4/2015 2. Evapotranspiration- The sum of evaporation and transpiration. Can include the evaporation from surface- water bodies. Direct runoff- the runoff entering stream channels promptly after rainfall or snowmelt. Superposed on base runoff, it forms the bulk of the hydrograph of a flood. Watershed divide- a place where elevation creates the boundary between watersheds. Relative humidity- is a ratio of the amount of water in the air compared to the amount possible at a certain temperature. Nimbus cloud- a rain cloud. Latent heat- the amount of heat absorbed or released by a substance undergoing a change of state at constant temperature and pressure. Cyclonic- the inward circulation of air masses about a low-pressure center. Hyetograph- graphical representation of rainfall intensity against time. IDF diagram (curve)- plot of average intensity and event duration. Isohyetal- a line drawn that joins two points that receive the same amount of precipitation.
