Greg Stas Exercise Science Mrs. Herman 3/27/08 Creatine In today’s society, most people strive to become the best in their field. It has become almost an addiction for some to gain an edge over their competition. Athletes are a good example of this. Most athletes strive to become the fastest or strongest in their field, and work tirelessly to do so. However, is it possible to gain this edge an easier way? Aside from the use of illegal steroids, there are plenty of legal supplements that claim they can make an athlete stronger and run faster. The question is, do these supplements actually live up to their hype, and at what cost? Creatine is one of those supplements that make these claims, but can this legal supplement really benefit today’s athletes? The use of creatine supplementation has become very controversial, but when examined, it has been proven to naturally and efficiently bring out the best in most athletes with minimum side effects. The formal name for Creatine is methyl guanidine-acetic acid.
