Memo To: 2325 students From: Dr. Owens Date: Aug. 14, 2007 Design Project specifications Each project is a four-page newsletter (four 8.5-by-11-inch pages, or one folded 17-by-11 inch page, front and back). Each project is to be a newly designed publication, for a ìreal-worldî client ñ all copy, photos and other information in the newsletters must be factually accurate, and must be gathered and processed with the understanding by sources, writers, photographers and editors that the materials will be published and distributed to students, faculty and staff connected with the journalism department. Each newsletter includes a web component that integrates a version of the print versionís ìflag,î as well as images and copy items from the print version. Each newsletter should include 12 to 15 items, which may include: feature stories (at least one on the front page) news stories (at least one on the front page) columns editorials photographs (minimum of six, including at least one stand-alone feature photo, at least one photo that goes with a story, and at least one mug shot) graphics (charts, graphs, information boxes, calendar items, etc.) pull quotes (at least two) This is a comprehensive number; for example, a story with a mug shot, a pull quote and a
