16) Enhanced Entity Relationship model also called as extended entity relationship model is a conceptual data model that deviates from traditional ER diagrams. It uses several concepts that are used in object oriented design and programming. It is an extension of entity relationship model which is used in the design of more complex databases, such as complex software systems, Geographic information systems and telecommunications etc. Enhanced Entity Relationship model uses the same concepts that are used in Traditional entity relationship model. However it includes few more concepts as below: 1) Specialization and Generalization concept: Generalization : It is the process of describing the general entity from a group of specialized entities. It is a bottom-up approach in which two lower level entities combined to form a higher level entity. In generalization, a group of entities are brought together to form one generalized entity based on their similar characteristics.
