Sylwester Czado 11-29-07 BIO 244, Lab #9 TA: Shannon Gerry Renal Physiology Worksheet 1. The renal tubules are glomerular capsule (Bowman’s capsule), the proximal convoluted tubule, the loop of Henle (nephron loop), and the distal convoluted tubule. 2. Glomerular Filtration is a passive process where fluid passes from the lumen of the glomerular capillary into the glomerular capsule of the renal tubule. 3. Tubular Reabsorption is when the filtrate moves from the lumen back into the blood which leaves salt water and wastes in the lumen. Tubular Secretion is when the kidneys can rid the blood of additional unwanted substances into the lumen. 4. The effect that pressure has on the Glomerular Filtration Rate is a direct relationship. As pressure increases, then the rate also increases and vice-versa. The effect that blood flow has on the Glomerular Filtration Rate is also a direct relationship. As blood flow increases, then the rate also increases and vice-versa. 5.
