  COMMUNICATION 2630 Linda Van Buskirk,  Frank Joseph  Kennedy 309; 255-2161;  lpv1@cornell.edu        fjj7@cornell.edu Assignment one:   the application letter and resume.   Please see Blackboard for specific dates and full  assignment schedule.   Draft of letter and resume reviewed in class; double-space the first draft of your letter for in-class  editing.   Prepare two copies of the final version of the letter , one formatted as if you were mailing it, the other  double-spaced for grading. Your resume should be presented as it would be for sending out to employers.  The final assignment will be stapled in the following order:  the job description, the formatted letter,   the double-spaced letter, and the formatted resume.   See handbook entries under "Finding a Job."  Read entries under  Correspondence   as well, and begin reading as  needed under "Style and Language" and "Sentences and Paragraphs."  These readings cover a great deal of  important material.  Some of it is easy reference, and some of it requires thought and pondering about language and  how it works.  Mark portions of the text that you will want to refer to in the future with different colored markers for  easy reference (colored post-its are great!). a.
