GEOG 360/560 – Principles of GIS Mapping Spring 2015 Exam 1 review sheet Exam 1 will be composed of a combination of multiple choice , short answer , and questions that you will answer with small diagrams .(No major mathematical computations are required.). The exam will be worth 30 points toward your final grade. Questions on the exam may be drawn from lecture, required readings, and/or material covered in the lab. The following lists much – but not all – of the material we have covered in class so far. Use this list as a guide in your studies, but be aware that it is not comprehensive… On the last page of this study guide are sample exam questions. You will need a scantron form for this test. You will write your short-answers on the exam sheet. Main ideas covered in this course (intertwined throughout) 1. Basic principles of cartography – the “whys” and “hows” of map-making, map design, etc. 2. How spatial data are stored, retrieved, analyzed & displayed in a GIS 3. GIS software skills using ESRI’s ArcGIS 4. Map making embodies choices and compromises – and politics!
