Dr. Nancy Hopkins Lecture 26/02/2007 17:19:00 -Majored in Bio in college -Last year and a half in college, she did scientific research and lab work for the  study of genes with Dr. Jim Watson -Married and then later divorced at age 29.   -However, in the same year she was offered a job at MIT and Harvard.  She took  the job at MIT to be a scientist. Why was she chosen for the position?   # of women in the MIT faculty  greatly increased in 1965; school was required to hire women due to  affirmative action and civil rights. Currently, there are about 45% female  faculty at MIT. Worked with cancer research. -Gender discrimination is about more than just whether or not a person gets a  job.  Took her 15 years to learn this.  -Unintentional Gender Bias and Stereotyping Two examples:  o 1. Reviewing a Xeroxed manuscript  o 2. Blind auditions for orchestras

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
