Please use my Clarendon College email to contact me (Not the Message
feature in Open LMS(Moodle). I check this email two or three times daily, with the exception of
weekends, when I check it on Sunday evenings. You can expect a reply to your emails within 24 hours.
Course parameters:
August 17 through December 7.
The last day to drop with a “W” is November 4
Online Course Website:
This course uses the Open LMS (Moodle) platform. All instructions,
tutorials, exams, quizzes, assignments and extra credit are provided at the course website. All
assignments will be submitted there; however, I ask you to submit your extra credit using my college
email. Due dates can be found in the Course Schedule on the website. Most of the communication
between you and your classmates will be handled on the platform through the discussion forums.
Communication with me will happen via my college email or telephone.
Required Enrollment Verification Activity:
Students who fail to complete the Syllabus
Agreement EVA (Enrollment Verification Activity) by the official census date will not be able to
continue in the course. This could result in an F for the course and forfeiture of Financial Aid. The
census date for this semester is Thursday, September 1. The Syllabus Agreement EVA is located in
the Class Orientation section of this course.

Course Description:
This course is a survey of U.S. History from Reconstruction to the 1960s. It covers basic facts,
concepts, and themes concentrating on the rich ethnic diversity of the American experience. In general,
students will learn and understand the connections between the social, economic, religious, and political
developments from the end of the Civil War through the Presidency of Ronald Reagan. It is a lecture
discussion, reading, research and writing course with the expectation that students will participate in the
education with many opportunities to engage the professor and each other in weekly forum discussions.
