A Well Designed Fitness Program includes: i) Aerobic exercise ii) Strength Training iii) Flexibility Training III. What are the basic principles of a fitness? A. Overload i) For a physical components of fitness to improve, the system must work harder than it is used to working ii) SAID principle (1) Specific adaptations to imposed demand (2) Indicates that over time the body will adapt based on the demands it encounters B. Progression i) Begin and build up gradually ii) Stay within your capabilities iii) Too much to soon may result in injury C. Consistency i) Set time aside on a regular basis for exercise ii) Best times (1) Whenever it fits into the daily routine iii) Worst times (1) After meals (2) Just before bedtime iv) The number of days per week you are involved with a particular activity can vary D. Specificity i) Changes due to training are activity dependent ii)
