Remember that the essays are to be 4-5 paragraphs and to cover the entire  semester as such I would advise you to find one example from the early church,  one medieval, one (renaissance/ reformation), (early modern), or (contemporary)  topic (2 of the last 3 in any combination), write a solid, coherent paragraph on  each and how it relates to the broader, topic plus a brief intro and conclusion  paragraph.   Faith Vs Reason  - Paul and this idea of salvation through faith  - Anselm of Canterbury: Monologian - based on reason, the human mind  concieves of the greatest being and nothing higher so there fore, there can't be  anything higher  - Thomas Aquinas: summa theologia, rational proofs for the existence of God -  example: motion - if there is something moving than there has to be a mover, he  used logical reasoning as an explanation for the existence of God  - Sola Fida (Only Faith) which is attributed to Luther...said that Justification could  be reached by faith alone and the soul isn't saved by pilgrimages, relics or  indulgences but by belief in faith and Jesus Christ Mysticism, Bible inerrancy vs Bible as human creation, Contemporary Context?
