Print Form Chem 30.225 Lab Results Worksheet Lab C Simple and Fractional Distillation (33 points) Name Drawer Number This worksheet is due at the beginning of the lab period on your E lab day. 3. (2 pt) In the fractional distillation, what volume of cyclohexane could you have collected that would have had approximately the same purity as the sample you measured by GC? 1. (12 pts) Prepare a graph (using EXCEL or similar program) of temperature vs volume of distillate collected for both the simple and fractional distillation. Be sure to include a title, label your axes (include units), and include a legend to identify the simple and fractional distillation. Staple the graph to this page. 2. (1 pt) On each GC printout, calculate the purity (% cyclohexane) in the sample. Make sure that you write this value on the printout, and staple the print-out to this page. 4. (2 pt) In order to obtain the highest yield of pure cyclohexane from a cyclohexane/toluene mixture would you want to use a simple or fractional distillation? Simple Distillation
