Filippino Lippi (1457/58-1504) parents: nun and monastery manager initially trained by his father who died when he was 11 or 12 at this point Botticelli steps in works from years 18-23 are very Botticelli (years ago they were attributed to him) a hundred years ago, Berinston, was the first to attribute them to Lippi Amico di Sandro: “Friend of Sandro” (that is, Sandro Botticelli). Nickname once applied to the artist of a group of paintings in the style of Botticelli, now securely identified as early works by Filippino Lippi; these are his early works 1.
