Self-Directed Learner and Its Essential Aspect
Self- the directed learner is a person who takes control of his/her learning by using the
active learning methods to learn effectively in order to retain what they have learned for future
challenges. Active learning means taking responsibility for your learning activities.
We have several aspects of self-directed learning like taking “initiative”, which means
learner doesn’t need to wait to be pushed in the direction to make them start learning but always
seek every possible opportunity to learn. Another aspect is to take ownership of the learning,
which means the learner always takes responsibility for his/her learning processes. The learner
learns independently, this is when the learner is able to learn without any supervision. They are
challenged to take up tasks without any external support. That is, they are self-motivated.
Another aspect is” persistent” in the work or learning, that is, there is no giving up, no matter the
challenges or failure, self-directed will try to make sure they complete their mission. The Last
