Soc.222 Exam #2 1.) Freedom of choice in marriage. a. Eligibles are seen as those sharing the same on socio-economic status, class, ethnicity, and religion. b. Massachusetts is the only states were gay/lesiabean couples can get married in the US. Some countries execute people for being trying to marry the same sex. Homogamy limits people to marry in there socio-economic status, class, ethnicity, and religion. The incest taboo refers to the cultural prohibition of sexual activity or marriage between persons defined as "close" relatives c. Same sex partners are not seen as socially acceptable so they lose out on a lot of marriage benefits such as medical coverage and taxes exemptions.Homogamy exist because society see it as the only acceptable choice Incest Taboo exist because people fear offspring will turn off mutated . The negative consequences are segregation between class and age, and increased inequalities. 2.) Marriage is a luxury a. While the number of newly married couples is down cohabitation is up. Many people are deciding to hold off on marriage due to finical reason. Some people want to be together but they don’t have finical stability or haven’t saved up enough money for their perfect wedding. Other people will marry despite finical matters. b. Many low income single mothers could use a finical stable man to help
