1. Issue Number: 20 2. Issue Title: Is China a Military threat to the United States? 3. List the major points of the YES argument: China is poised to achieve political-strategic parity with the United States by planning asymmetric warfare with America cultivating a series of pragmatic alliances with our enemies. In any naval encounter, China will have a distinct advantage over the U.S. (proximity), even if it lags in technological military expertise. 4. List the major points of the NO argument: It can be argued that the modernization of the Chinese poses less of a threat by being behind the U.S. and the U.S. spends about 10 times what China does on national defense with their modernization being much faster. 5. Briefly summarize in your own words what you understand to be that author’s thesis in the YES argument: The author explains that, since China is a communist country, their tactics and planning are very well organized compared to the U.S., especially since China’s military is competitive.
