D. 296 MVR, 254-7421 e-mail: Office Hours: Mon, Wed and Friday 11:15 am- 12:15 pm, and Friday 3:00-4:00 pm/ (or by appointment) Teaching Assistant Office Hours/Locations Section Times/Locations Daniel Wilmoth 1: R 12:20 - 1:10, CD 100 2: R 3:35 - 4:25, PS G37 COURSE OBJECTIVES This course is intended to provide a working knowledge of basic methods and principles of multivariate analysis and other topics of econometrics which are particularly useful for policy analysis. We will cover a wide variety of statistical methods. The basic tool will be the multivariate linear regression model (regression analysis with cross-sectional data). Because data sets that have both cross-sectional and time series dimensions are being used more and more often in empirical research, some attention will also be devoted to methods for independently pooled cross sections and panel data. Some theory will be developed in class, but the primary emphasis of the course will be a sequence of specific problems involving the specification, estimation and interpretation of econometric
