Digestion: Complex foods, mechanical action (chemical action), simple nutrients enzymes are proteins they break down molecules and make them smaller, (can also make them bigger), without being changed in the process. 2. Describe the path food follows as it travels through the digestive system. Digestion : You chew food goes to the mouth and travels down to the esophagus Mouth- mechanical breakdown (teeth)- chemical breakdown (salivary glands)- enzymes (amylase) breaks down food Swallowing food : food, esophagus ( to stomach), protects from going into the tranchea....
