CH 2-7 Nations at Dawn Two types of sources: - Sources from the country simulating. - Current media (alternative because many are controlled by government) - Academic scholarly sources (not biased, high priority for grade) PAIS int, country watch, social sciences full text, world news connection (get password from library), worldwide poli sci abstracts. [email protected] Russia - Big country. 1.8 times size of us. Incredibly mixed population. One official language. 140 languages spoken. In the past, population is in poor health. Male in U.S. 75, in Russia 60. Until 1996, their GNP was declining 10%/yr. After oil, they started growing. Income used to be, 2,250/yr now 12,000/yr. Issues that affect we act with eachother. - Economics. Russia standards have been increasing but US has promised a lot of aid after communism. We never really delivered it. After USSR ended, their economy went bad and US didn’t step in. Resentment and the nature of capitalism. As oil became a problem, US intervined. -
