Ecology Spring 2008 1 ECOLOGY PCB 3034C & 4044C Terrestrial Lab IV: Forest function data analysis For Terrestrial labs I-IV, you are going to write a single lab report following the format of an actual scientific journal article (see additional handouts posted online: General guidelines, Writing Hints, Examples, and Lab report checklist ). Today you will continue progress towards writing the report by summarizing and analyzing the forest function data collected in Terrestrial lab III and finish your analyses of the forest structure data collected in Terrestrial lab I. This will give you the opportunity to again practice your Excel skills for summary statistics, graphs, and analyses, and provide you with more results for your lab report. Lab objectives: 1) To measure and compare soil CO 2 efflux (soil respiration) from three Florida ecosystems—forest, lawn and old field—and explore how changes in land use and land cover are affecting ecosystem and regional carbon cycling. 2) To apply your knowledge of Excel and statistical tests covered in the
