Kmieciak 1 Zachary Kmieciak Ms. Pilat English 161 – 14446 23 January 2007 Food Regression During the Depression many people lost their money. In the food business the loss of money was a never ending circle. The food distributors had to lower the price of food so it could sell; in turn the businesses were forced to drop the amount of money they would give to the growers. The growers and other consumers then would not have money to buy the goods from the distributors. This caused many people to lose money. However people were able to buy food in the same quantity. While being able to buy the same quantity, many Americans began to have a better diet (p. 25). Through food during the Great Depression many Americans began to connect to each other. Some companies lost all of their money during this time, however the large companies were able to stay afloat. These companies helped bring all Americans together. Canned foods were being created and shipped to every part of America allowing people from each region to be able to cook the same meals. It now did not
