Duncan Kenney ES2—Honors: Manalis March 8, 2009 “Green is the new red, white, and blue” After reading and hearing Thomas Friedman speak, it is blatantly apparent that this man truly believes that a Green revolution is imperative to continue our ‘Americanized’ style of life. Friedman’s fundamental understanding of globalization, the environment, and the power of energy allows him to have a nearly universally applicable plan of action to catalyze this green revolution. It is interesting to note that in the last ten or so years it has become more and more popular and even trendy at times to act with ‘green’ intentions. And although the media has labeled the recent increase in the public’s interest in the environment as the ‘green revolution,’ Friedman dismisses this notion completely noting that no revolution has ever been easy. With this in mind, I completely agree with Friedman, in the sense these simple acts like buying a Prius or using energy efficient light bulbs cannot account for a revolution in its entirety, and that the only way
