Thesis: There is no permanent solution to erosion at Goleta beach, as waning and waxing of the sand will continue as long as there are waves and seasons. Nonetheless, I believe soft- solution is not only the most economically feasible, but also the least disruptive on the surround ecosystem to save the beach. What Ecological Restoration is : For the last 10,000 years human beings have greatly altered biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems as a result of technological advancements. Although early-humans only had the technology and numbers to affect a local population of animals through hunting, through exponential growth coupled with dramatic technological improvements humans promptly began altering the environment at a global level. 1 As the negative repercussions of humans effects on the environment became more and more apparent, scientists and activists decided to combat the issue by restoring the human altered ecosystem. These efforts, generalized by the title ‘Restoration Ecology’ incorporate science and values by encompassing the ideas of long-term sustainability
