1 Supervisors move to protect beach 12/7/05 By THOMAS SCHULTZ NEWS-PRESS STAFF WRITER Battle over erosion brews as county studies options The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted to study two broad and philosophically opposed strategies for fighting chronic erosion at Goleta Beach Park, setting the stage for a battle over how much of the popular spot is worth saving -- and how much more of it, if any, should be allowed to slip into rough winter seas. In a 5-0 vote, the board OK'd an environmental impact study on fortifying the beach using buried rock piles or other artificial barriers to cushion the destructive crush of storm surges, an approach that supporters say preserves the beach's tradition of recreation. The report also will look at allowing portions of the park to disappear naturally, an alternative strategy backed by some environmentalists and required for study by the California Coastal Commission. The final call must wait until after the environmental analysis, which is expected to wrap up in the coming months, before the county takes its final choice to state regulators. The Coastal Commission wants the county's preferred long-term plan by July.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
