8 – Stellar Structure #1 Arthur Stanley Eddington 1920 2 The Plan • To develop a physical model of a solar like star. • It’s all Newtonian physics except for the fusion reactions needed to liberate the required thermal energy. • Several equations i.e. physical concepts, will all be in play at the same time – The ideal solution is to solve the set of equation simultaneously. – We will approach the problem by solving the equations as a set of sequential solutions. 3 Issues • We have to have a way to generate the energy.
