9 The Stages of a Project 1. Initiation stage; What are we doing? 2. Planning & design stage; How to do it? 3. Execution & production stage; Make it work! 4. Monitor and control; Who’s watching the budget? 5. Delivery. Everyone should be happy. This is the usual “waterfall” approach. 10 The Essentials • A plan – What are the objectives and the resources? – Select an approach to achieve the objectives. – The plan • A schedule – How long will it take to execute the plan? – Schedule • A cost – What is the cost for the schedule? – Cost – If the cost is too high change the plan and/or the schedule, and start over. 11 Who are the players and how are they connected?
